Dwarfism Arts and Advocacy: Creating Our Own Positive Identity is available through Emerald Publishing now. I am honored to have contributed alongside so many amazing activists – some of whom you may know by sight if not by name, such as Danny Woodburn of Seinfeld and Angela Van Etten, who’s combated dwarf-tossing in the courts. Mine is the final chapter in this call for a radical, long overdue change in the way we real life dwarfs are perceived, represented and understood. My contribution is titled, “Would You Befriend Me, Date Me, Hire Me If I Hadn’t Had My Bones Broken & Stretched to Look Like Yours?” This has all been made possible by our editor, the indomitable Dr. Erin Pritchard of Liverpool Hope University.
The book is an academic publication so the price is eye-watering, but this is all the more reason to support your local library and request they acquire it for your community.
